Integration: Clearer naming of Integrations / Plugins

Created on 5 Jan 2020  路  6Comments  路  Source: hacs/integration

Hi,
first things first: Thank you for this amazing add-on to Home Assistant! 鉂わ笍

My problem is, that I always mix up integrations and plugins and I think that this is a problem especially for beginners (which I am not). For me as a non-native speaker it sounds like integrations and plugins are randomly interchangable between custom components and "lovelace extensions" (at least both could be called "plugin").
I'd suggest to name it as clear as possible: "Custom Components" and "Lovelace Plugins".
It would also help if only the plugins are called "Lovelace Plugins".

Thank you very much! 馃槂

EDIT: There was no template?! But I think I covered everything from the guidlines: My problem, my suggestion and my alternative suggestion.

Oh... and to add to the confusion.
This is not an add-on (addons are special docker containers for Has.io only), this is an Integration.

same here. I always switch between both tabs to search for the item I need, while always forgetting the difference between them.

https://github.com/orgs/hacs/projects/1#card-28469025 There is a plan to change "Plugin" to "Lovelace element" and just "Lovelace" (where applicable).

But I consider that a breaking change so it will not be done before 1.0.0
