In the past year InstaPy grew a lot, so many new features and so many incredible people working on the project, InstaPy is blessed to have such a community!
We鈥檙e always improving, and we feel that the next step is to set a Roadmap for the next steps so everyone knows where we鈥檙e going and can contribute to the project in an easy manner.
It will also enable the whole community to work towards clear goals that will make InstaPy even better and surpass everything else in the field of Instagram automation.
We鈥檙e sharing our initial thoughts and would like to listen to what you think about ideas.

Hey Tim, thanks so much for doing this. I'll try share my thoughts in the coming days if I find time. I think something that would work well with deciding on a way to take the software (along with this roadmap) would be feature request board where users' requests need to be approved by the devs to show up. Then allow users to vote of what is most popular/wanted by users.
I know we already have the issues board with feature request tags, however since these aren't pre-approved by devs before being posted, it's mostly clutter of repeated issues and request. What do you think? This would make the whole roadmap much more community based I think
@LotusPainter Great idea!
Love it.
What's your recommendation on how to do this.
Trello board?
@timgrossmann @jameskxue I think Trello would be good, a better option is something like canny.io however it's $50/month.
Trello example board: https://trello.com/b/hjBDflxp/old-meteor-roadmap-new-roadmap-at-https-githubcom-meteor-meteor-blob-devel-roadmapmd
Canny example board: https://ask.getdelta.io/feature-requests
@jameskxue @LotusPainter I don't think we need trello.
We have the same features in the GitHub Project tab.
We can create a kanban board there

As long as it supports voting, sure. I think this is the biggest thing that's lacking in what we have at the moment.
@LotusPainter Well, could you give an example on how this works with other platforms?
We can upvote the issues in the projects tab:

@timgrossmann See the two links I posted in the comment above for examples of voting. Also, my projects board looks like this:

@LotusPainter To be honest, none of them is really good.
Just checked out waffle.io which at least has GitHub import right away.
You need to click on the name of the project to get to the kanban.
I really think that the integration of issues, PRs etc. is best done with GitHub Projects.
We don't want people to need to login into different pages to do this.

- We definitely need something that can use the issues right away without copying it. Which is best done with GitHub Projects.
- We need upvoting and commenting, which can both be done with GitHub Projects, based on the issues. In my opinion, the best is Canny (with the easy upvote button)
- In the best case we could have a sorted board with the most upvotes first etc. (it seems none of the by now mentioned is able to do that)

Okay great, lets get started with a new project then and get some of the biggest feature requests added
Thanks Tim for the amazing Instapy and its community. It's all about sharing and collaboration as you have said in your video on Youtube.
However I have a concern. Does using Instapy violate the Terms & Conditions of Instagram? I know we are not using their api and we are using Selenium to automate activity over chrome or other browser. My question is not about using Instapy excessively, but about using it in the first place. I am sure Instagram can know about accounts which used Instapy (even for a short period) and ban them. My second concern is that since Instapy is found on Github with all this community around it, why Instagram didn't take one action to prevent us from using it? I am pretty sure that Instagram knows about Instapy... (unless I am really mistaken!)
I have raised this issue so that efforts put in the roadmap don't vanish away someday if Instapy or accounts using it get banned.
I am more than happy to help in the roadmap, maybe from the marketing side and not the technical side.
Thanks to Tim, and to all who contributed in Instapy.
@mkhattar I can absolutely understand your concerns, I've talked about them in private channels before.
It's a yes and no. InstaPy doesn't take the Terms&Conditions too seriously, you're right.
But the tool is not operated by a company at this point, everyone is free to use it which (at least kind of) takes the burden away from InstaPy itself.
Well, definitely. There are also statements in updates of terms and conditions that they "now" start to record mouse movement etc.
I've heard from a friend who has a family member working at instagram that they know of the tooling. So they definitely do.
Aside from that, at this point I don't think they have very high engagement to stop something like InstaPy. It is not violating their naming rights (like instazood etc.) and is not used commercially (at least not by us). We are not generating tons of bot accounts that have no real profile behind it but mostly real users that just want to increase their engagement.
Engagement is everything that keeps Instagram alive, isn't it?
Higher engagement => more Users => triggering of reward system => more addicted to the platform.

Higher engagement
My personal opinion of something like InstaPy is that everybody involved wins.
Unfortunately the only people seeing drawbacks are those that are not yet involved and using automation like InstaPy.
Even if Instagram would at one point take action towards InstaPy we have a huge community of ingenious people that would find a way around their actions.
Work on this tool will never be lost or unnecessary 馃槈 鉁岋笍
Looking forward to your contributions, let me know your username and I'll add you to the marketing channel on Discord 馃憤
Thanks for the clarification Tim!
