Igbot: Can't log in anymore

Created on 8 Dec 2017  路  17Comments  路  Source: ohld/igbot

I used this library for a while and it worked well. Today I changed the password for my account on instagram.com and now I am having issues accessing my account with the library.

When attempting to login (with the script) using the new password, the app asks me about a suspicious attempt. I click that it was me but still the script errors after that.

Why is this not working?

@onkaraman No password change for me. Started getting intermittent verification errors last week but now they're happening every time the bot attempts to log in.

same issue for me.

I'm too as getting a large number of suspicious login attempt messages when the script is run via cron. If I run it manually I don't seem to have the same issue.

Not entirely sure what the difference would be.

Same issue for me. Changed IG password, now in loop of suspicious login messages. Makes no difference if I use cron or not.

Update: I tested around a bit. When I tunnel via my server and open instagram with a normal browser, I'm getting the challenge (code via mail or SMS) every single time that I log in. Seems that my IP range (digitalocean) was blacklisted.
Would it be possible to change instabot to also use the mail/SMS code instead of the in-app confirmation?

I鈥檓 having the same problem, haven鈥檛 been able to login to ANY account with InstaBot..

To fix this issue you should use "home" IP. Run instabot from your home PC or install proxy server at your home PC and for that you would need to purchase a fixed IP from your ISP. I used ccproxy at first, easy to setup (win 10). Now I run proxy at my dd-wrt router (it was pain to setup).

Seems that my IP range (digitalocean) was blacklisted.

I guess my AWS instance is somehow blacklisted as well.

This would imply that IG is attempting to map IPs to mobile logins. That's tricky since a number of media agencies use remote logins to manage accounts for clients. Changing to a proxy that's "adjacent" to the user accounts really isn't possible for me.

Also I was in NY last week (I'm normally in SLC) and didn't get a suspicious login attempt issue on the iOS client when there. I wonder if this isn't somehow related to user agent.

Did you guys change your passwords? Or did you get into the verification loop just randomly?

@romannk so using ccproxy will work?

Yes it does work. Remember that in order for proxy to work you need to have Static IP at your home. Or you can simply install instabot at your home PC and see if that works.

Well, unfortunately, it does appear to log in and run successfully when I run it from a local machine.

So to run this on a server I guess I'll need local proxies?

Same problem here, systematic challenge since 2 weeks

@ohld Does this bot somehow store a permament token of some kind, in which only the password of the first login ever is hashed in? Once you change the username or the password, login is not possible anymore.

couldn;t we utilize cookies to stay logged after first attempt as well to reduce the login attempts

Hmm... i tried a proxy from my country, but didn麓t help. Any other solution for this?
Just happens in one of my 6 accounts. Strange

and it麓s the only account also used on ios phone.
