There was a recent change of cookie consent banner on https://vi.nl and all I can see is a blurred page.
Following two urls are blocking the cookie consent banner:
quantcast.mgr.consensu.org
static.quantcast.mgr.consensu.org
It might break other sites as well.
Thanks for the infomation @baujahr. It looks like I started blocking *.consensu.org on Jun 27, 2018 - and this is the first complaint I've heard of broken functionality. Commit added: https://github.com/lightswitch05/hosts/commit/ee75a971e23cd7edfa0f0d6dd337f68c6faa488f
Since this is the first time I've seen it breaking a site, I think it is most likely limited to this specific website. Lets leave this ticket open for a while to see if anyone else is having issues as well. Thank you again for opening this ticket.
Thanks for your reply, from what I can quickly gather there are a few Dutch websites which are having these cookie banners from consensu.org.
https://www.ek2020-voetbal.nl
https://www.wielerflits.be
https://www.wielerflits.nl
https://live-tennis.eu
https://www.voetbalzone.nl
https://permanent-wonen-recreatiewoning.nl
There is a request to the following resources.
https://quantcast.mgr.consensu.org/cmp.js
https://static.quantcast.mgr.consensu.org/v25/cmp-3pc-check.html
https://static.quantcast.mgr.consensu.org/v25/cmpui-popup.js
These websites are using the following GDPR Framework and if more websites start using this template I'll think more websites will be broken.
Thanks for the info. Yes, I understand the GDPR and consent rules. I also understand that under these laws you should be able to deny consent and still have access to the content. Consensu is a tool for getting consent and encourages consent. If you block consensu, then it is effectively saying that you do not consent to being tracked. I am not a lawyer or even a EU citizen but I believe sites that fail to allow you to access their content when consensu is unavailable, could be in violation of GDPR since the whole concept is that you have to OPT-IN and should be OPT-OUT be default.
Looking at other popular Dutch sites I've come across another cookie consent blocking breaking the site.
sdk.privacy-center.org
Breaks https://telegraaf.nl so you get a blank page instead of the cooking consent banner.
This is even worse since there is no option to reject the cookies where there is a option to do that in the consensu option.
If only the sites would let you through with the blocking of the domains.
Right now it is frustrating for the users because there is no interaction possible.
If you are a EU citizen, perhaps make a GDPR complaint that you are not able to use without providing tracking consent?
Funny thing is, the old way of consent actually doesn't break sites.
cmp.faktor.mgr.consensu.org
This is the old cookie consent banner which with blocking just bypassed to the underlying site.
I've whitelisted these sites in the meantime and will see if a GDPR complaint can do anything.
BTW, that first site you linked to gave me this awesome list of advertisers and trackers, I'll be going through it later today: https://2ttq8jlhg5.execute-api.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/default/google-vendor-list-proxy
Its basically a goldmine of hosts that should be blocked 馃槅
Stumbled upon other sites using the same cookie notice.
https://deadline.com
https://variety.com/
https://www.rollingstone.com/
https://wwd.com/
https://hollywoodlife.com/
https://www.goldderby.com/
You'll also always get a cookie notice with the blocking of
api.quantcast.mgr.consensu.org
Whitelisting this domain and after clicking deny all cookies on the notice should keep the notice away.
closing due to inactivity
Funnily enough, this domain when allowed to load results in the GamesRader site chewing a cpu core constantly.
