Homebrew-core: `brew update` stopped updating formulas

Please follow the general troubleshooting steps first:

• [x] Ran brew doctor, fixed as many issues as possible and retried your prior step?
  

  Bug reports:

brew update is hasn't been updating the brew formulas. The latest formula commit I have is several days old.

We had a nasty bug in the update code last week; people who had the bad luck to update before it was patched had this happen to them. The fix is to manually update:

cd $(brew --prefix) && git fetch origin && git reset --hard origin/master
