Homebrew-cask: Bug report: Permission denied - (/usr/local/Homebrew/Caskroom, /usr/local/Caskroom) for Moving Caskroom from HOMEBREW_REPOSITORY to HOMEBREW_PREFIX

Created on 20 Sep 2016  路  4Comments  路  Source: Homebrew/homebrew-cask

Description of issue

Starting today any installation of Cask packages fail with the failure as listed below. Also the suggested command to fix the problem results in the same failure message. As it looks like the new Caskroom folder is expected to be located at /usr/local now instead of /usr/local/Homebrow?

Output of brew cask <command> --verbose

==> Moving Caskroom from HOMEBREW_REPOSITORY to HOMEBREW_PREFIX
Error: Permission denied - (/usr/local/Homebrew/Caskroom, /usr/local/Caskroom)Most likely, this means you have an outdated version of Homebrew-Cask. Please run:

brew uninstall --force brew-cask; brew untap phinze/cask; brew untap caskroom/cask; brew update; brew cleanup; brew cask cleanup

If this doesn鈥檛 fix the problem, please report this bug:

Please note that these warnings are just used to help the Homebrew maintainers
with debugging if you file an issue. If everything you use Homebrew for is
working fine: please don't worry and just ignore them. Thanks!

Warning: You have unlinked kegs in your Cellar
Leaving kegs unlinked can lead to build-trouble and cause brews that depend on
those kegs to fail to run properly once built. Run `brew link` on these:
    autoconf213

Try temporary setting owning permissions to current user in the /usr/local directory and then update Homebrew:

sudo chown -R $USER /usr/local
brew update --force

Since changes in Homebrew core recently the /usr/local/Homebrew/Caskroom is now located in /usr/local/Caskroom and automatic migration is needed.

Somehow the detailed output for each of the commands as requested is not directly shown. If you edit my comment you will see those.

Same problem here.
