The pull request #8582 should solve this issue, which is expected to be included in an upcoming maintenance release.
For those in need of a quickfix, the source code of the modified wordcloud can be downloaded from https://github.highcharts.com/bugfix/wordcloud-playing-field-and-spiral/modules/wordcloud.js
