Currently, spacebar has no functionality on long-press, as far as I can work out. When a user has a lot of different keyboards installed it can take a long time to switch to the right one by swiping the spacebar. Please add long-press to the spacebar to bring up a list of activated keyboards to choose from.
The in-built Android Keyboard's response to a long-press on the spacebar is to offer a 'Change keyboard' dialog. This is exactly what I'd like to see implemented in Hacker's Keyboard. I'm not sure whether or not this fits with what CJDennis has in mind. It may well be. In any case, such an enhancement would make me much more likely to switch between keyboards, and thus to use Hacker's Keyboard more often.
For reference, the quickest way I've found to switch back from Hacker's Keyboard to the Android Keyboard is:
@trevorparsons That's not quite what I had in mind. I have about six different keyboards activated within Hacker's Keyboard, so I need to swipe up to three times if I get the initial direction right, or up to five times if I start by going the wrong way. It would be much easier to long-press the spacebar and see all the different activated languages and then press the specific one you wanted. There could even be a "change to non-Hacker's keyboard" option too.
Just worked something out and haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else.
To change keyboards (in order to go back to the AOSP keyboard for example) just long press the hacker keyboard settings key (circular like icon with a dot in the middle).
Thanks very much for pointing that out, Viveur. The ability to switch from Hacker's Keyboard to the AOSP keyboard by pressing on the settings key meets my need perfectly, and makes CJDennis's proposal for a long-press on the spacebar to switch languages distinct and complementary.
@Viveur It's necessary to press Fn before you see that key. I didn't even know it existed because I don't use the Fn key-set!

@trevorparsons @Viveur @CJDennis
I am still not able to change quickly from hackers keyboard to gboard keyboard.
UPDATE: Now I can do it. I read to qickly and missed that the (.)-like key must be LONGPRESSED. So the recipe is, forst press Fn key, the LONGPRESS the (.) like "settings" key further up on the Fn-altered keyboard..
@trevorparsons your description says: an 'Input options' dialog appears. I don't get that dialog (android 11, latest hkboard app)
@Viveur @CJDennis Thanks to Dennis for pointing out that Fn keypress needed before the (.) key appears and can be pressed
BUT overall I'm still not able to get via the aforementoned tricks to a quick list of other keyboards to switch to. Can anyone help?
