Created on 28 Aug 2018  路  8Comments  路  Source: WordPress/gutenberg

Actually i am very sorry to write this negative review . But there is no other way to pass information to developers about what i feel . So i am writing here .

I am a developer working in wordpress more than 5 year . Please see the problem i faced .

Before seeing the problem you can see this screenshots

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1SJKQ3BGs47nogfqwCuH7wd_LE4PEqw1i?usp=sharing

1) I can鈥檛 change the font size of h1 from guttenburg , i can鈥檛 make it text-align center
2) I can鈥檛 select H1 block , there is no dots coming in the right hand side . The only thing i can do is i can edit text .

3) I can鈥檛 add class or id to the H1 .

4) The h2 element is going right side of the screen i selected text-aling as center , but the alignment is totally wrong i don鈥檛 know why ?

5) I added some images in gallery and arrange as 3 images need to show in one row . But what happen is every images in coming in separate rows .

I am using Twenty Seventeen theme , and the only active plugin is gutenburg .

Now could you please tell how i can recommend this plugin ?

At the end , i can solve all this problem by myself by adding custom css and codes . But if i do this then what benefit actually i get from guttenburg ?

I just showing basic 4 , 5 problems . If you can solve this then i can clearly show the other problems .

in addition to this if you want to see the screenshot

You can select a heading block and set it to H1. You can change text alignment in the sidebar:

You can set a CSS class for any block using the "Advanced" section in the sidebar:

Looks like that issue with the gallery blocks is a bug. If you remove the alignment it works, but with alignment set the gallery block doesn't work. Could you please open that as a new issue? There are too many things to keep track of in this issue and a few of the issues mentioned have been addressed, but if yo can file a new issue with just the gallery block alignment bug we can get to fixing it. Thanks! 馃槃

Your feedback is welcome and thank you for writing in about it!

  1. I can鈥檛 change the font size of h1

This is intentionally left to the theme. (reference)

i can鈥檛 make h1 text-align center

You should see an option to center in the heading block settings on the right. (screenshot)

For a heading block, you should be able to see the blocks if you hover your mouse near the right side of the block. I think you're making a good point that it's hard to find though and there are two open issues related to that which may be of interest to you: #7114 and #9074.

  1. I can鈥檛 add class or id to the H1 .

You can add a class or id from the heading block settings under "Advanced" at the bottom. (screenshot)

  1. The h2 element is going right side of the screen i selected text-align as center , but the alignment is totally wrong i don鈥檛 know why ?

This does look strange and I _think_ it has to do with some trickiness around how block floats work and I know that there is an open issue about that鈥擨 will research to confirm and reply back here with what I find.

  1. I added some images in gallery and arrange as 3 images need to show in one row . But what happen is every images in coming in separate rows .

That is happening because you have selected center alignment for the gallery block. To fix that, click on the gallery then click on the center alignment option to undo that and preview again.

Oh! I didn't see the previous reply before I hit publish for mine. Sorry about that. 馃檪

I tested and found that this happens for pages when using the Twenty Seventeen theme without Gutenberg. This makes me think it might be a theme bug. May I ask what theme you used when you tested? If you temporarily change themes, does the problem with the alignment go away?

I am using Twenty Seventeen theme , and the only active plugin is gutenburg .

The original poster states they're using Twenty Seventeen, so sounds like it's a theme bug and not a Gutenberg bug indeed.

I am wondering why you closed the issue without solving all points ? . What about the Gallery problem ? Problem 5 ) I added some images in gallery and arrange as 3 images need to show in one row . But what happen is every images in coming in separate rows .

As I mentioned above:
https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/9392#issuecomment-416691156, an issue like this one with many points across different blocks/components is hard for us to work on/track, and many points were addressed.

If the gallery block alignment issue happens with other themes it's a Gutenberg issue; please file it as a new issue with steps to reproduce 馃槃
