Hi, I spent many hours trying to disable cursor blinking in guake,
>gconftool-2 -g /apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/cursor_blink_mode
off
>gconftool-2 -g /desktop/gnome/interface/cursor_blink
false
>gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface cursor-blink
false
>cat ~/.gtkrc-2.0
gtk-cursor-blink = 0
>cat ~/.gtkrc-3.0
gtk-cursor-blink = 0
Is there any way to turn this annoying blinking off?
Hum, cursor blinking is quite common on terminal. And using the f-word will not help this matter.
Its so common that there is even no option in guake to switch it?
I'll check that when I can. Feel free to hack around in the code, if you submit a Pull Request, I'll review it.
And your use of the f word makes us so willing to help you...
I should sorry, it really drove me crazy. After many years of linux experience, after making systems from scratch I was not being able to change one simple setting of a program.
Because this has no sense. All terminals have blinking cursors, if you don't like it, you can hack around in guake python files: Check https://developer.gnome.org/vte/unstable/
guake:518
In function: GuakeTerminal.configure_terminal()
You can add
self.set_cursor_blink_mode('VTE_CURSOR_BLINK_OFF')
And the blinking is gone.
Can you prepare a PL with a simple setting in gconf?
Don't have much time but i'll try
@Stibbons http://www.jurta.org/en/prog/noblink describes what is wrong with blinking cursors.
Merged: #277
Thanks @ml-
Just saw this comment that has been deleted "So can you turn off the fucking blinking cursor? I'm not seeing the option anywhere.". So the person is not able to open the pref window + uses a familiar language that remind me the "space vs tab" flameware in "Silicon Valley" TV series. So ridiculous. Next time I see someone using that kind of language, I tell him to go to hell.
@xaxxon no need to speak like this, it's only putting fuel on fire
Please uninstall Guake and don't mess us anymore. Thanks
