Guake: What is "VTE"? Where is some documentation?

I look through the settings panel and see labels like "Use VTE titles for tab names".
What is "VTE"? Where are the effects of the settings explained?

It is the Virtuel Terminal Emulator. This settings use the title from the current terminal, most of the time is is the currently running process or the current bash path
