java.io.IOException: Error reading credentials from stream, 'type' field not specified.

I do everything, but I can't understand why.
I'm trying publish my apk using flavors, using this command:

publishApkApp2salesRelease

the complete error log:

Hi,

you get this error because the json file is invalid.

You must have tried to download the json file from an existing service account listed in "OAuth 2.0 client IDs" of the API Manager Credentials. But the file yo get when you do that is different from the one you get when you create the key the first time, that's the trick.

So your file most likely look something like:

{
  "installed": {
    "client_id": "",
    "project_id": "",
    "auth_uri": "https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/auth",
    "token_uri": "https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/token",
    "auth_provider_x509_cert_url": "https://www.googleapis.com/oauth2/v1/certs"
  }
}

when it should look like this:

{
  "type": "service_account",
  "project_id": "",
  "private_key_id": "",
  "private_key": "",
  "client_email": "",
  "client_id": "",
  "auth_uri": "https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/auth",
  "token_uri": "https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/token",
  "auth_provider_x509_cert_url": "https://www.googleapis.com/oauth2/v1/certs",
  "client_x509_cert_url": ""
}

From the API Manager, just create select "Create credentials" > "Service Account key" and generate a new key for the Service that is associated to your Google Play account.

Thank you man, this resolved my problem.

Hi @sowenjub I have the same problem but my json file is correct, so what could be the problem?
Hope you can help me.

Hi @NancyMH, if you really have the same error, specifically "Error reading credentials from stream, 'type' field not specified", then your json file is probably not where it should be, or not referenced correctly. Other than that, I have no idea.

Thanks , It's resolved my issue as well
