For me as a library user maintainers for one reason or another are not having enough time for this project. Does anyone have anyone have any suggestions which forks this repo or other similar libraries that solve Google Sign In in React Native and is being maintained?
There have been similar issues in the past but only one person has stepped up. Thanks @Kerumen! Others have started creating their own library.
So my question ultimately comes to this: is there any interest to keep this project maintained or should we point people to other libraries in the README? At least README should say "looking for maintainers" or something similar.
However, thank you all for your hard work on this! I've been happy user for months and tried to devote a little bit of time every now and then since I wanted to use this library in the future as well.
Hey @jozan!
I don't have enough time anymore to dedicate to this library. I was set maintainer when I proposed myself some time ago by @devfd but it seems that he has completely stopped to maintain the project and he literally left me alone.
I can put a message like "Looking for maintainers" on the README but I don't have the rights to add someone and @devfd never answer to pings.
I see that you are pretty active on the project (PR / issues) and would love to add you, but unfortunately I can't. Maybe if @devfd can wake up..
This library is nice and used by a lot of developers, it would be a shame to abandon it..
What are folks doing now that this project isn't being maintained?
This still work without big problems.

We'd be happy to invest a bit of time into maintaining this. What if we team up and create a fork? @Kerumen
@Kerumen @itchingpixels I think it makes sense to maintain a community fork of this lib. If we write to npm support, we can also claim the npm package name (not sure if @Kerumen can publish the module). With only two people who have commit rights and both of them busy, this isn't going to go well in the long term...
I very much support to create a community fork. That way we can get much needed bug fixes and updates and also I don't need to maintain my own fork anymore. :)
@vonovak, @itchingpixels and @AndreiCalazans: would you like to have a quick chat on Reactiflux Discord about proceeding how to move this package to react-native-community?
@jozan yes, sure. My discord username is same as github if that helps. I don't have a preference as to where the module should be forked. Moving to react-native-community is fine but I guess it's also that organization's decision if they want to have it :) at any rate, I'm willing to help out with the maintenance.
yea @jozan that would be great, in react-native-community it would have more visibility. @sibelius is one of the maintainers in react-native-community and told me they are open to adding this package to their community. There we can promote the package and advertise the need of new maintainers.
my username on discord is Andrei_Calazans
Alright! I sent you a message on reactiflux discord. Let's continue there.
If you want to help, PM me there. I use the same nickname as here.
Hi there!
That's a great move I think. This library is very used and it would be a shame to let it die..
I have the publishing rights on npm if it can help.
If you want to chat on Reactiflux, my username is the same as here on Github.
As I can't seem to get this library to work any more on iOS in conjunction with react-native-maps and CocoaPods, I'd love to see this being moved to react-native-community. I'd also like to help, but my experience is predominantly on the JS side, then Android, with iOS I am still struggling.
My username on reactiflux is the same as here, if you need more people!
@AndreiCalazans it would be great to add this repo to react-native-community
what are the required steps to do so ?
@devfd transfer the repo to my github user, and then I can transfer to react-native-community
done
yay!
