Google-play-music-desktop-player-unofficial-: media keys unbinding almost every day

Created on 7 Jun 2018  路  5Comments  路  Source: MarshallOfSound/Google-Play-Music-Desktop-Player-UNOFFICIAL-

OS: MacOS 10.13.4

GPMDP Version: 4.5

Issue Descriptions: I am having to restart the app every day now it seems to restore keyboard support, it used to stay bound for weeks at a time...

Steps to Reproduce: Lately it seems Youtube has been hijacking the keys maybe? I routinely pause music to watch some YT videos, but historically this has never been a problem.

This is a general "feature" in macOS High Sierra. Someone created this app: http://milgra.com/high-sierra-media-key-enabler.html to force the media keys to always control iTunes or Spotify. But us Google Music people are left dealing with it working sometimes and not others.

Please add an option to bind the media keys to Google Music desktop, always!

@ktiedt This seems to be an issue for me too, except only in order of app startup. So if Chromium starts first, and then Google Play Music Desktop Player, only chromium will bind to media keys, rather than both apps responding to the event.

Hmmm @rojr I never considered a chrome update (causing a restart) to be the update... that very well could be what I was dealing with too and I just never connected the 2 things.

I had this problem with media keys too until I removed "Google Play Music" extension from Chrome.
