Goldendict: Scan popup not working

Created on 10 Apr 2016  Â·  5Comments  Â·  Source: goldendict/goldendict

I'm using Qt 5.6.0-based 64-bit build on Windows 10 and would like to use the nice Scan Popup feature
The help suggests that after enabling and activating this feature Then just stop the cursor over the word you want to look up in another application, and a window would pop up which would describe it to you.
However, this doesn't work — nothing pops up when I hold my mouse over any word or select it. In fact, it doesn't even work inside GoldenDict itself!

Update: doesn't work in Chrome, SublimeText, Windows Explorer, but found two apps where it works — TotalCommander and GoldenDict with additional options :)

Hope this function can work well in other applications (like pdf, Chrome).

Not a fix but the translated word should come up when you highlight the word and then pressing CTRL + C + C.

Thanks, that's what I'm using now, that's a bit less convenient, but universal enough to work everywhere.

ScanPopup works not in all applications. Turn on options "Use IAccesibleEx" and "Use GoldenDict message" on "Advanced" tab - it allow ScanPopup to work with Internet Explorer and GoldenDict itself at least.

Thanks, found those options, GoldenDict worked (not using IE)

Hope this function can work well in other applications (like pdf, Chrome).
