Version/Platform/Processor information (from ipfs version --all): ipfs version 0.4.2
Type (bug, feature, meta, test failure, question): Feature
Area (api, commands, daemon, fuse, etc): Packaging
Priority (from P0: functioning, to P4: operations on fire): P0
Description:
Please add or create a Chocolatey package for IPFS. https://chocolatey.org/
It would make it easier to install and update on Windows.
@starrychloe none on the core ipfs team are windows users. If you have experience creating chocolatey packages then I would encourage you to set up that package and document the process here.
Closing for tracking as nobody appears to be interested in working on this.
I noticed that someone has published ipfs to chocolatey: https://chocolatey.org/packages/ipfs but the last release was 0.4.7 back in march 2017, it would be good to get that package updated to the latest version and the name controlled by the ipfs team.
There's a couple links on the page to contact the package owner and chocolatey admins about getting publish bit: https://chocolatey.org/packages/ipfs/ContactOwners and https://chocolatey.org/packages/ipfs/0.4.7/ContactAdmins (found via https://chocolatey.org/docs/package-triage-process)
@djdv Do you think you can handle that?
For sure, I'll reach out to them about it.
Thanks @andrew for all the info.
