That's odd - I can't replicate here. The key line seems to be:

c1xx : fatal error C1083: Cannot open source file: 'C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Atom x64\app-dev\resources\app\apm\node_modules\node-gyp\src\win_delay_load_hook.cc': No such file or directory [C:\Users\user\Documents\GitHub\github\node_modules\keytar\build\keytar.vcxproj]

I just checked and I do have that file on this system. Something wrong with your latest Atom build maybe?

I'm using Atom 1.18.0-dev-1c2fbbe63 (ns-editor-rendering) and github package SHA fc78e576e2e402fcf5fab664f540383bfbaa22fd. Still doesn't work even after blowing away github's node_modules. I can try a complete script/clean and script/build --install of Atom if necessary.

@50Wliu Some research I did let me to think that maybe [email protected] still had this problem — can you try updating npm (either to v4 or to latest v3) and seeing if that helps?

Update: I was just able to reproduce this on Atom 1.18.0-dev-071ee3a06; I'm wondering if I couldn't before because my Atom wasn't up to date. I'll see if an npm upgrade helps.

@BinaryMuse apm hardcodes the Node (and hence npm) version.

Yeah, you're right, @smashwilson and I were just discussing this. Doesn't make sense in that case why it wouldn't work for you, unless npm has a range dependency on node-gyp.

At any rate, we're on the case, but in a couple weeks this won't matter quite as much. 🔍

(I'll note that apm would silently fail unless I set $env:ATOM_RESOURCE_PATH to my Atom clone.)

Ah - I bet that the node-gyp dependency was cached. I don't think I did a Remove-Item -Recurse .\node_modules in between my tests. 🤔

I'm still verifying (building takes forever on this box) but I believe that atom/apm#716 will take care of this.

Found it! In the Atom build scripts, all *.cc files are being excluded from the packaged app under the assumption that they're source code for compiled artifacts and therefore redundant.

I'll try to figure out the best way to add an exception to that exclusion list over the weekend.
