Githawk: Setup peril for improved project management

Created on 25 Mar 2018  路  10Comments  路  Source: GitHawkApp/GitHawk

We should look at setting up peril to improve our project infrastructure.

This way we can easily share common automated tasks across all of GitHawkApp's repos. Such as:

  • automatically label issues
  • anything else our creative minds think of 馃槂

This is a little bit of a chore because @rnystrom has to set it up the GitHub app (only owners can). But after that I can help

Hey @BasThomas, sorry that I haven't contributed anything to the open source community in several months 馃槥 I just don't really have spare time for projects outside of work right now.

I'm always available by Twitter DM to answer questions if I can be of assistance in that way. Otherwise, hopefully, I can break the ice again this summer and try to get back into making more open source contributions 馃挃

Peril could also be hooked up to the GitHawk twitter account and automatically send out tweets when an issue is labeled as a "starter task"

That鈥檚 an amazing idea!

Can probably also use peril as some sort of an issue spam filter 馃檮

  • Close issues with no titles... possibly >= 1 words?
  • Empty PR bodies
  • Could add contributors to a whitelist 馃槓

EDIT:
Could also handle some of this in-app by validating the bug report fields better

Here's a fun one: Merge On Green
If your comment on a PR has the phrase "merge on green" then peril will automatically merge the PR after CI passes

Wo that merge-on-green is so good.

Peril could listen to release event notifications for dependency pods under the GitHawk repo, then automatically submit a PR bumping the version

We'd love to make some progress on this. Would you be willing/able to help out, @SD10? I can help set everything up with the GitHub App.

Ah, no worries at all obviously, @SD10! I'll see what I can do.
