Githawk: Automatic ranking & reporting

Created on 14 Oct 2017  路  2Comments  路  Source: GitHawkApp/GitHawk

So I've been tweeting a lot about the ranking for GitHawk when searching "github" on the App Store. I also like to give #s for impressions, sessions, crashes, etc. I'd LOVE to find a way to automate all of this on the blog or website somehow. I've talked w/ @krausfx and others about this before, would be super cool but nothing exists at the moment.

Some ideas:

  • Daily report (with deltas) of ranking for each regional store when searching "github"
  • Daily download numbers (& week/week)
  • Daily star/rating numbers (& w/w)
  • Sessions?
  • Public crash reports

    • Hell I'm happy to include stack traces and #s of crashes too

This is probably huge and way out of scope, but its an idea. Might be able to add a fastlane plugin for the iTunes Connect stuff? Idk.

So in terms of ranking, at work we use a tool called AppFollow - It tells us our current ranking, as well as whether it's going up/down via a Slack integration.

They have an API, and it's free for small apps? Does some other helpful things too

Some companies will give more perks for open-source teams, may be worth an email if you're interested but yeah.

Regardless - love the idea, it'd be super cool if we could somehow create a mini dashboard which updated once a day or something automatically

Wiring up their API would be pretty sweet:
