Gesturefy: add more languages

Created on 16 Jun 2017  路  19Comments  路  Source: Robbendebiene/Gesturefy

If you speak another language and you want to contribute to this project, I would appreciate it if you add another translation :)

_New:_
To do so, please visit Gesturefy on Crowdin. Everything should be quite simple and self explaining. If you still have any questions or problems, let me know in the comments below.

_Old:_
You can find the current locales here: https://github.com/Robbendebiene/Gesturefy/tree/master/src/_locales
Basicly all you have to do is to translate every text behind they keyword "message:". The "description:" keyword normally represents the English translation or some information what the message is about and should stay as it is. For more information you can just ask or visit this site: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/WebExtensions/Internationalization.

Thanks!

@stmr @yfdyh000 @uegajde I just wanted to let you know, that I "outsourced" the translations to
Crowdin. Would appreciate it if I could add you as translators/proofreaders there :)

Nice! Will have a look at it.

Had to change the file to txt, it's a Czech translation (cs_CZ locale, in you directories it would look like ..../locales/cs/messages.json)
messages.txt

Thank you very much!
I hope you do not mind that I add you to the contributors list :)

oh there is one message missing on line 437. This is the message which warns you if you try to bind a gesture to an action thats already in use. Its only one, I know, but maybe you'll find some time to bring it to perfection :D

Thanks for the control! Here it is
messages.txt

Don't forget to bump this thread with updated locales or if you want to translate the page at AMO or more parts of the extension.
BTW in past, there was babelzilla for extensions, I hope there will be something for WE soon. Or that mozilla will make pantoon public

Thanks, I will ask for more translations soon, after I've added some new addon settings. :)

So I nearly completed version 1.1.7 and added some more settings, actions etc. which needs to be translated.

Just in case you are bored ( @stmr , @yfdyh000 , @uegajde ), I really would appreciate it if you find some time to update your translation files. Thanks! :)

If you want to see a list of the changes that happend to the specific language file, just open it on github (for example: https://github.com/Robbendebiene/Gesturefy/blob/master/src/_locales/cs/messages.json) and click on history in the upper right corner of the file.

Here we go again :)
I added the mouse wheel gesture for version 1.1.8, so @stmr , @yfdyh000 , @uegajde it would be nice if you could translate the new options in your language files.

looking into it right now :)

of course yes :)
appreciating for the frequent updating! 馃憤

Here you go! Btw I've noticed a small visual bug with the settings, image attached (The word "settings" in my language got wrapped on another line)

@stmr Thanks :)

I know this problem from my own language. I'll try to fix this. And even if I fail you can still add an "invisible" line break character to you language file (this is a character which will only be visible on line breaks and it also indicates where the browser should break the word) :)

Btw: You can also do pull requests to update/submit your language files, just in case you are familiar with them :)

@stmr So the solution I was thinking about will work really well except for one language which is currently not supported, guess which one.. :D (support table at the bottom of the page: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/hyphens).
Just add this "invisible character": at the same position where the word should break.
Oh and please reupload the file encoded as utf8, because some special characters are lost.

Version 1.1.10 is nearly ready. I would appreciate it, if you @stmr , @yfdyh000 , @uegajde could update your language files :)

Hello @Robbendebiene , I would like to help with the translation, but I can not find my native language on Crowdin. Is there something specific I have to do? I've never used this website before

@nicholasvalentine Nice to hear that :) It should be available now.

Closing this since translations are completely managed via Crowdin.
