So with the January 2021 version the video has settled down, there is the problem of the audio, both when they speak and both the steps and when you hit the target, let's say the audio in general.
Like fluidity in fps and perfect.

When searching for regressions, here are my results:

Are you sure that latest build ( Cxbx-Reloaded/Cxbx-Reloaded@e62a54b) is the exact one at which this title broke? Because that's a change that shouldn't have any consequence....

EDIT: Any of the intermediate changes shouldn't have any negative impact either, so I really don't know what's causing this...

I'll re-test now, just in case.

Edit:

I've tested one build before the one I've listed as the one working (c325d454), to be sure the behavior was not from that particular build.
So, results:

c325d454 - working

0c4d516f - working
f955721c - working
and... surprise: e62a54b is also working. what drove me to list that as a regression is the fact that the sound can or can't sometimes be reproduced when the game boot (I've tested all the listed builds 5 times each, and is random if the sound works or not each time). So, not a regression, it's simply a random strange behavior.

I couldn't get this one to work as well.
