Arc lamps are only able to be placed in one direction if placed on the top or the bottom of a block. However, they work perfectly if placed on the sides of a block.

Maybe I can implemented this? Probably easy one.

I believe using a GC wrench on them rotates them

In a perfect world: someone code a way to detect the direction the player is facing to and place the block accordingly.

@EzerArch we can probably do that - which way should the lamp face if the player is placing it on the ground? Towards the player?

Also: it looks like there is an issue when placing arc lamps on the ground in positions where there was tall grass before - it picks up the facing of the lamp from the way the player's mouse strikes the side of the tall grass, even though the grass will be deleted...

we can probably do that

Eh... that was an indirect invitation to a non-radfast person to code that, as in a less imperfect world where other "someones" also code _(c'mon people)_. Hence the "someone code this" instead of "radfast/someone would code this" ;)

Towards the player?

If we follow the same rules for containers (furnace, dispensers etc), yes. But I think the intuitive way is the opposite way because the player will want to see what is being lit in front of him/her.

I just want it placed the way I want it, not the way it does ;-) (link for continuity/context https://github.com/micdoodle8/Galacticraft/issues/3335)
/remove tongue from cheek/
I'm in the camp of "it all depends" but I think that is way to much overhead to start checking for surrounding blocks (bulkheads(walls)/fences/structures interior-exterior/overhead(ceiling/deck(floor/ground))) to determine which direction to face. I think that placing it on a wall/vertical surface should always point down and on horizontal overhead(ceiling) it should face the player, however I could make an argument for both directions when placing on a horizontal deck(floor/ground), combat/warfare dictate always face away because I don't want to be blinded and I already know what's behind me (I hope) and pushing into caverns and dungeons I want to see what's in front of me so I don't turn my back to the enemy. I can also see this as an advantage in that I don't have to figure out light level range and having to count blocks to place the next one.

Maybe I can implemented this? Probably easy one.

1/26/20 playing crackpack 3, cant rotate them still lol

@BigDrewskii Are you whacking it with a wrench? Using a GC Wrench should rotate it, using the Yeta Wrench will also rotate it, but not how you think.
