Gadgetbridge: Amazfit bip pairing issues

Your issue is:

Device isn't discovered by the app. I can pair it with mi fit app fine but if I try to do it with GB it doesn't even show in nearby devices. If I unpair it with mi fit app the device stops working. I know it says connected devices may not show but if it isn't connected it doesn't even function.

Can you explain what "stops working" means?

Firmware v1.1.5.56 is not tested with Gadgetbridge, I didn't even know it exists.
Could be that the new firmware/mifit locks down the watch completely.

Somehow I have a hunch that this i connected to Mi Band 4 not being able to pair #1536

Could it be that your device is A1915 / Amazfit Bip Lite?

It's the regular amazfit bip. When I say "stops working" I mean the current temperature is displayed on my watch face for a while and then it stops displaying it suddenly. A few hours ago I noticed it stopped displaying it and the gadget bridge was stuck on connecting. The phone was in my pocket so I'm not sure why it disconnected

I am a bit confused now, I thought you cannot use the watch in Gadgetbridge at all, meaning you cannot pair it and you cannot find it when searching for a new device

Hi, I'd like to bump up as I've got the same issue...
I've got Amazfit A1608 Bip watch, firmware v1.1.5.56. GB version 0.35.2 and Android 6.0.1 MMB29M (MIUI 10.2.2.0 MBEMIXM).
No matter if I'm connected or disconnected from Mi Fit app, Gadgetbridge cannot find my device. When I disconnect from the Mi Fit app, it (the watch) stops working - it is in "ready to connect" state and waiting for connection from the phone. Mi Fit can find and pair it, but GB still cannot do that.

With disconnect you mean unpair, unbind?

Where did you get that firmware from? It might be possible that it is locked down like the mi band 4

Yes, I mean unpair and unbind device.
Do you mean v1.1.5.56? It was automatically installed after connecting, pairing and synchronizing using Mi Fit.

I just tested firmware 1.1.5.56, it works here.
Make sure location (network or gps) is on while pairing with Gadgetbridge and also make sure that the Bip is not paired in the android bluetooth settings.

I have same problem with bip lite A1915 sw 1.1.6.02
It can discover the bip but not connect no matter what I tried, it won't connect with GB, but It can connect with mifit or amazfit app.

Hi, I just bought a amazfit bip. firmaware is v1.1.6.02,, received yesterday. I can connect: gadget bridge v0.35.2 discovers (with difficulties) the bip but afterward indefinitely (tested for 2hours) try to connect to the bip. I switched on the gps and allowed gadget bridge to access it, it is unpaired in the bluetooth android settings.

I code in c, python, R, etc. for scientific calculus everyday at work and would love to help but can't figure out where to begin as the topic is far from my skills.

I chcek everything twice ... GPS and data (WiFi or network) permanently on. Bib not paired on BT menu.
Earlier GB works even if BT was paired...

EDIT: I put the BT adress to GB (MiBand number) and app recognized that isn't MiBand only Amazfit Bip, but... conecting.................................................................. no efect.

I'm having the same issue, firmware V1.1.6.34. If I put the MAC address into gadgetbridge it seems to see the bip, but can't pair. I was going to try the server pairing, but long-pressing on the device name doesn't do anything, so I can't enter a key. is anyone working on this?

Just gentle reminder Don't try it so hard, because my Bip death after trying that day. I tried to charge up but it just feel warm and stays black screen.

FWIW, it worked for us by following the instructions at https://codeberg.org/Freeyourgadget/Gadgetbridge/wiki/Amazfit-Bip and restarting the phone;

1. Brand new Amazfit Bip (Model: A1608, Firmware: 1.1.5.02)
2. Installed F-Droid (sideloaded via https://f-droid.org/en/)
3. Installed GadgetBridge 0.39.1 (via F-Droid)
4. Opened GadgetBridge. Enabled access to notifications, etc.
5. In GadgetBridge, attempted to 'Connection new device' but failed to discover device. Did multiple attempts.
6. Rebooted Android phone (Moto X4)
7. Opened GadgetBridge and did another 'Connection new device'. Worked immediately.

Update 2 [12/1/19] I had to get a new auth key. Then it was able to be paired.

Update 1 [12/1/19] The scanning problem was resolved with the F-Droid (0.39.1, was using the Play Store one), and rebooting the phone.

Still having a pairing issue after entering the auth key in "Pair your Mi Band" screen...

Same problem with Amazfit Bip Lite (Firmware 1.1.6.34) with LG G6 (Android 9/Pie).

It does not even appear in the "Device discovery" although MiFit can pair with it and the Android Bluetooth settings page can scan it.

I was able to grab the auth key using the FreeMyBand's Amazfit 3.4.4 mod. So, if GadgetBridge can discover it, I think it will pair, but it's not showing up in GadgetBridge...

BTW, it doesn't matter if the Amazfit Bip Lite was already paired or unpaired. It does not show up in "Device discovery".
