"Fontelico" already has crowns, even with a plus & minus sign! Looks like this:

Please, we would really need a crown icon!

I think I'll experiment with the Unicode "black chess queen" symbol for now: ♛

Have yet to look into how well it works on fonts available on Windows etc. If you include your own web fonts I suppose you could be pretty confident about it.

Some other Unicode crowns: ♕ ♔ ♚

was thinking something along the same lines

I toyed a bit with the black chess queen symbol and found it a bit hard to identify at small sizes. Looks a bit like a hand. Something with wider "spikes" along the lines of what @ckhall suggested would probably work better.

+1. A crown can be useful for user roles(permissions): God, Administrator(King), Manager, Operator etc.

+1 I think it should be even simpler than the other suggestions with only 3 tines (points) and no extra bits.

This sortof works

.fa-crown:before {
  content: "\1f451";
}

... but some browsers (i.e. Firefox on Windows) choose to render this in full color, as it is an emoji. Chrome and IE don't.

Maybe fontawesome is based on an existing fonts, which has basic letters, numbers and emoji? Or is this just my browser doing fallback?

That is the unicode point for the crown emoji, that is just the browser doing fallback. Chrome on Windows 10 renders it as an emoji on my machine

Maybe the standard unicode points \2654 and \2655 have a wider support

Actually you can append the VS15 symbol \FE0F to render it in black and white style instead of colored emoji. The resulting icon is surprisingly consistent with FA style, in Chrome and FF at least.

Loving FA 5 btw, so easy to use and so many options in pro! Great work!

Hey folks! Happy to announce that this will be included in our 5.1 release!

We decided to coronate this icon. https://fontawesome.com/icons/crown?style=solid
