Note that Go now has a more usual logo (https://blog.golang.org/go-brand), however the Gopher is of course also still welcome.

Since the gopher is still the language mascot and well loved, I would expect to see it represent the language more often than the GO logo, but only time will tell.

Just a little perspective Go (Golang) is the third most wanted programming language for developers in 2019. Having this icon is very important.

Because it might be hard to find, and might be useful for FA's designers to start with, here is a very rare SVG which includes the Gopher mascot:
golang-horizontal.svg.zip
It's zipped because, well, SVGs are not directly allowed here. It looks pretty much like this (a small PNG rendered from the SVG):

Hey!! Did we get an icon for go then? I can't seem to find it. This issue has been open for well over 4 years now :(

Maybe they'll release it with Font Awesome 6, who knows...
Or maybe they're waiting for Google to pay for the design of a new icon on FA 馃槃 It's not that expensive (one-time fee), and I'm pretty sure that Google could shell out that amount of money for Go if they wished...

I'd love to have _both_ the mascot _and_ the official Go logo. Here are the official SVG files for them (in all 'official' colours):

I guess they don't really care, since they have their own collection of icons. However, not even Google's own icons include an icon for Go lang...
