Font-awesome: Icon request: icon-freebsd
I'd love to see an icon for the FreeBSD Operating System in Font _Awesome_ :)
It would make a great first addition to a new "OS Icons" section of the set and I can think of a few places they would be supremely useful:
- Personal Homepages
- Showcasing OSS contributions
- "Powered By" logos
- FreeBSD Project site logos

Keep in mind, this icon has to look legible at smaller sizes. I believe that it has to look good at 14px (minimum).

@ryankane: Yes, that general idea; although obviously stylized a bit to look decent on smaller sizes. I've seen such icons, although unfortunately, I can't remember _where_. I just think it would be awesome to have it.

Maybe someone should just turn those fa-bsd(-o) icons into fa-freebsd(-o) icons and submit a pull request, actually.

I've started a campaign, giving away the top requests for FA icons for free, open source. You can incorporate them in a number of ways: generating another icon font, svg set, or (my preference) compiling all FA and third party icons into a single file.
Previous ones were moderator, discord, coins, Google Play, thin close, walking man, t-shirt, Xbox, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo, PlayStation, Facebook messenger, Line, clean and math icons.
Please let me know if you want me keep going these icon requests, or compile some upgrade file.

Evidently, overwhelming support (more than 120 positive comments, vs. the 24 in that thread) means very little. Some other identifiable factors in that thread might be employed to improve the chances of FA devs taking (positive) notice. See also Requesting new icons.
Other than that, I have little idea how to catch some attention for this issue. Perhaps maintaining a consistently-synchronized fork of FA with BSD Unix icons included and periodically submitting a PR would have some effect -- or just eventually cause people to switch to using the fork instead, which might roughly produce the same effect as getting the new icons included in FA itself.
