Fenix: [Bug] Google Chrome icon is displayed instead of Firefox when continue viewing in browser on 9GAG

Steps to reproduce

  1. Access www.9gag.com
  2. Wait for the open 9gag in... prompt.
  3. Notice the Browser icon.

    Expected behavior

The Firefox icon should be displayed.

Actual behavior

Google Chrome icon is displayed instead of Firefox when continue viewing in browser on 9GAG

Device information

  • Android device: Google Pixel 4 XL (11).
  • Fenix version: Nightly 9/3, 81.1.0-beta2

It looks like the issue for Reddit was fixed https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/4227.

i don't think fenix sets its user agent to chrome on 9gag. the same issue on reddit was fixed by reddit. pretty sure 9gag has to fix this. these banners are evil though. (cancerous isn't the right word)
