As a user, I want to keep some types of browsing activity completely separate from others, so I can conveniently accomplish all types of tasks in the same browser without worrying about privacy.
As a user, I want to be able to to log into a domain using multiple accounts on the same browser, so I don't have to switch browsers or use multiple browsers to manage my multiple accounts/identities.
As a user, I want the option of having extra privacy and separation for chosen sites by default, so I don鈥檛 have to think about it every time or switch to another privacy browser in order to open those specific sites.
Would it make sense for Collections to be Contained Spaces instead? It would add functionality, and not take anything away, as far as I can see.
Edit: It would enable private tabs to use this functionality as well.
Hi @opusforlife2,
I definitely would like containers to be added to Firefox Mobile. However, containers and collections are different functionalities and I don't think they provide overlapping functionality at all so I don't think that replacing collections with containers is reasonable or desirable.
If you are thinking about merging them, so that every collection is saved in a new container, then I also think that this won't work well. For example, I can see how someone might include a site in many collections, e.g. GitHub, and having to sign-in every time a new collection is made would be frustrating.
Also, assuming that when a collection is created a new container is made for it then all existing cookies and data saved for that collection would be lost, or there would have to be a way to copy into a new container and as far as I know even Firefox Desktop doesn't provide that. I don't think this latter functionality is desirable because it opens up a whole new range of possible privacy and security holes.

You make good points. I don't use Collections, so I didn't think about these cases.
From what I understand this would enable Facebook Container to work on mobile.
And that would be GREAT!!!
Any update on this feature ?

We will be making more progress this month now that the release is out of the way. I unassigned myself from the issue to tidy up my list of assigned issues. Probably prototyping this in Reference Browser. You can follow this board https://github.com/orgs/mozilla-mobile/projects/51.
