I am running into an issue with the MS Learn Sandbox environment. I am receiving the following message when attempting to create a sessions "Unauthorized Sandbox use detected. Your sandbox has been terminated." I've only seen one article that says it may be because of "abuse" of MS learn offerings .
Not sure what the issue is as I have simply been walking through the Azure Engineer course each day. The Sandbox has been finicky as it is anyways. Any input/resolution on this issue?

This is a different issue. On one side they stopped some sandboxes, there you have an error of type "temporarily unavailable" or similar; on the other side they banned some users (like me) because they suspect abuse. My "abuse" was to have passed a quite large number od learning exercises recently. Maybe MS should use their own Azure AI to make the difference between abusers and regular learners?

Excellent question, I would like to hear the answer very much. However, don't be surprised if your question will go unaddressed.
A couple of other users and myself in another thread with similar issues, never got any reaction at all. I am sure the good people at Microsoft are working on this issue, it's just that we probably won't hear it, till the issue is solved. I can only speak for myself, but I was very fanatic and driven doing all the modules and labs, but now I am like... meh
Appeals appear to be up now. Where the 'Unauthorized Sandbox use detected...' message appears there is a button labelled 'Appeal'. Once you click it, you get a message as shown below.

Many in my company got this error, we started a challenge to see who scores max points now most of us are stuck due to non-availability of sandbox

sorry for the trouble @cabhilash, we fixed a bug in our system today which used to cause some good users to be banned, so hopefully less good users will be banned incorrectly in the future. And we have reviewed all the appeal tickets today, but some cases are still in the process of changing the appeal status. By end of tomorrow, you should be able to check the appeal process.

How will the people who appealed know the result? Will we recieve an email? I have been trying to activate the sandbox almost every day since I appealed (roughly a week ago).

Thanks for letting me know. Good for you. I've halted my Azure Administrator Certification prep for over a month by now, because of the sandbox problems. I am very eager to get going again.
@mcurko , i have submitted an appeal and it works for some days then today i i got a new un authorized access message asking me to send an appeal again and i didn't make any unauthorized actions !!
@Hodori88, if your appeal is approved, you won't get an email, when you activate sandbox again, you will just be able to activate it. We have approved all the good users's appeal tickets. Can you activate sandbox now? Let me know your email address if you still can't activate sandbox.

i just tryied to create the service from the portal rather than azure cli in learning module as it was giving me faild to acquire shell session number of active users is more than 352, so i tried to continue the module by creating the service via the portal !!!
then today i recived that "unauthorized access " message and opened a new appeal !!!

I'm facing the same issue and can't seem to find a workaround. I need to progress in this Microsoft Learn set of labs for the purpose of a course I am taking at work and without the ability to create sandboxes, I can't move forward in the course.

This happened to me the first time using my account...not sure what I did! O_o
I also have this issue, even though I only used the sandbox for completing exercises contained in the "Learning path for Azure Developer", any feedback would be appreciated.
Never used any sandbox before and I get the "Unauthorized Sandbox use detected..." message too. First, I tried to use my employer's subscription but there seems to be too many people using the training sandboxes in my same region. I created a subscription under my name and different email account, pay-as-you-go, and on that one I get the "Unauthorized Sandbox use detected..." message. Did click on Appeal but it will take up to three days to get approved. Something seems wrong or perhaps they a running over capacity on these sandboxes. It'd be great if someone can look at this issue, seems to be affecting a lot of people.

I am also getting this, having done nothing but follow the exercises in the on-line learning path. Sandbox was working initially, but now now it always fails with the Unauthorized error. I have selected the Appeal button several times, but nothing comes of it. Can someone unlock my learning account please?

I am also suffering the same situation. I was doing the module "Host a web application with Azure App service" on my personal account, and was immediately denied access to a sandbox account from the first moment I tried it. I had swapped to a work account, and was allowed to create one, but I want my progress to be on my personal account.
Any help on why I was denied the ability to create one on a personal account would be appreciated. Email is in my profile.

I am trying to finish my Azure fundamentals learning which is part of a work requirement and I have been banned from the sandbox. My account is [email protected]. I recently passed my AZ-900 cert and tried linking it to my account and it doesn't show up in my Achievements folder? Maybe only Microsoft learn badges show here? Activated my account today in Microsoft Learn (although, I was using the previous Microsoft Academy with the same account).
Activated Azure Free account and then activated the Student thing.
I was going through the module "Create a Website hosted in Azure" in section 4/8 when I was prompted to activate the Sandbox for the first time. First time I tried I got the "Unauthorized sandbox use detected. Your sandbox access has been removed" without even having one previously activated. No appeal button or anything as other users have pointed out here.

Would it be possible to get an "appeal" button again? It makes you feel kinda helpless when you're being blocked from completing your training and there's no feasible way to ask for support.

I started one of the tutorials on Microsoft Learn (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/modules/welcome-to-azure/4-exercise-create-website) and when I start activating the sandbox I receive the below issue.

This happens only when I use my personal Microsoft account on Microsoft Learn. If I use my work account, it works. Request you to please fix my personal account? I use it for my Microsoft Certifications exams so I would like to being able to follow the Learning Paths using the same account.

In case any of the devs are watching this thread, I found an interesting behavior.
I am trying to complete the "Exercise - Create a website hosted in Azure" module under the "Core Cloud Services - Introduction to Azure" section. It is the only module I am missing in the "Azure Fundamentals" course.
While on my personal account, clicking the Activate link results in the Unauthorized message mentioned above. However, if I click on the Azure Portal link down in the exercise instructions, I am taken to Azure. In Azure, in the upper, right-hand corner it shows me as under the Microsoft Learn Sandbox. However, attempting to actually create a wordpress site, which is the objective of that module, results in a message stating that there are no subscriptions available under that directory.
In an incognito window, I logged into my work account. My work account is linked to my Personal account in order for me to see my progress on both. While under my work account, I could click the Activate link and it would say it had activated. It would tell me how many more sandboxes I can create and for how long that one will last. However, when I enter Azure via the link in the module, I get the same message about no subscription that I get when logged into my personal account.
So I am stuck. I cannot complete the module at all.

I have the exact same issue down to the module you're trying to complete and all. I subscribed to the $200 credit Azure portal for 30 days. I have my personal Outlook account signed into my laptop. My work account is also on the 365 platform. Haven't tried removing my work account from my work laptop, and I'm not sure if my Azure trial is some how causing conflict with Sandbox access. I am also signed into my personal Outlook account on multiple computers. Tried using a browser that I rarely use, still got the same message

Normally, the EXP Points used to be on top right, and now they are at the bottom and it is mucho more visible.
Therefore I thought, "perhaps Microsoft has performed some releases during the weekend and fixed the issue".
So I went back to the training lesson I was stuck and gave it a try. This time I got a message saying I needed to grant permissions from my learn account to the azure account... and it worked

I opened a private window in Firefox, and it finally let me create a sandbox and actually complete module stuff in it while logged into my personal account. I haven't tried with my work account again to see if that would fully work, and honestly I don't have enough faith in it to bother trying since I can finally do the module work.

Hi! Thank you for the input. So, do you want to say that's because of the browser? It works in Firefox only for you? Maybe I can try it with other browser.
I tried it with IE, Chrome, and the new Edge browser. When I tried with Chrome I tried Incognito mode to make sure it wasn't counting me as logged into my work account in Microsoft Learn and my personal in Azure or vice versa. In FireFox it technically behaved just like in my previous attempts, but in the Private window of FireFox it worked.

They are linked. I've noticed that most of the time I just straight up get the "unauthorized use" error when I try to activate sandbox on [email protected].
On [email protected] I am able to activate sandbox, but then it gives me a no subscription error when I try to create the WordPress app service in the course I listed above even though it shows me as being within the Microsoft Learn Sandbox directory in Azure.

I tried creating the free azure account using my company email ID and ran into error "Looks like you are trying to access a resource that belongs to an organization that's not approved by your IT department". - I was told to use Outlook email id to resolve the issue
Created account using outlook email id and tried activating sandbox and ran into the issue "Unauthorized sandbox use" - haven't been able to create a sandbox successfully even once.
I just ran into the same issue trying to create my first sandbox.

Unfortunately, issue keeps alive... my MS Learn account has started to block sandbox deployments for different courses and routes; which is really discouraging since I am trying to prepare for Azure Cloud Architect. Something is terribly wrong with Sandbox's subscription activation.... Please advise if there is any other options like linking an existing Azure subscription into the tutorial here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/modules/welcome-to-azure/4-exercise-create-website
So I got this working to some degree, use the oldest email you have with them.
If you setup a new email and attempt to access the sandbox, it's going to fail. It seems as though the protection they have in place to stop people from abusing the free sandbox filters out newly created account on purpose.

Is this thread abandon or something? It's been more than 2 weeks since I started submitting an appeal, and now it is still pending to process? Do MS actually care whether their users/partners know how their products or not, or do we have to pay for subscription just to learn Azure?

Funny enough it's also the only one that won't give XP, the other sections that require a sandbox also say I'm unauthorized to use sandbox but they gave me XP. dean.[email protected]

Uh, so frustrating, why is this happening, I was just gained momentum in my training.
I have the same problem, I am going through "Exercise - Create a website hosted in Azure" and I am not able to activate the sandbox. I get below error
Email is required to activate a sandbox
Your Microsoft account must be linked to a valid email to activate a sandbox. Go to Microsoft Account Settings to link your email and try again.
Please help to fix the issue as I have an exam tomorrow and I am not able to complete the learning until I get this fixed.
@yunyunyunyun Can we please get help this is still happening? I'm getting the below and I've only ever used the Sandbox for the Lab Exercises.....

Same problem this morning.
Today, I started the learning session with already 6 consumed Sandboxes
And the captcha to appeal is awful and doesn't work at all on any browser.
Such a waste of time ...
I had this happen to me today (I've been a user for around a year now completing many modules and sandboxes). Over the last few days I have completed modules as part of MS Ignite. during this, I completed 2 modules using the same Sandbox (as per the modules instructions). Tried another module which required sandboxes today but got the message. I have appealed it but this is concerning as I am participating in a Microsoft Event next week which is using the modules and sandbox features to complete hands on training.
