Describe the bug
I'm trying to complete the following module on Microsoft Learn: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/modules/welcome-to-azure/4-create-a-vm?pivots=windows-cloud but every time I activate the Azure sandbox I get the following error:
You're signed into the cloud shell with an account that's different from your docs account. Please sign out of the cloud shell to retry accessing the sandbox.
I only have one personal Microsoft account and every time I'm prompted to sign in with I use that account. I've tried signing out and back in and I still get the same error.

Thank you for creating the issue! One of our team members will get back to you shortly with additional information.
Same customer has users experiencing this different but related error when activating sandbox:
“Error when redeeming the invitation”
AADB2B_0001
no Azure AD account can be created for you because it is a federated directory
The client's administrator must create an account for you
It seems that how ever they have Azure AD/AD federated is an issue. I (alelowe) can connect you to the customer if more insight is needed.
Just a quick follow up. I've managed to use the sandbox yesterday. One day after I've submitted this issue on Github, I've created a Pay-As-You-Go subscription on Azure, before that, I was on an expired trial subscription.
I have the exact same issue. Tried site with Firefox, Chrome, and a never before used Edge browser. Same message across all of them:
You're signed into the cloud shell with an account that's different from your docs account. Please sign out of the cloud shell to retry accessing the sandbox.
Any progress on getting this bug fixed? Any workarounds?
For me it just started working again by itself.

And just like that, several hours later, it's started working... so perhaps this error is just an Azure issue and displays a terrible error message implying it's the user's fault.

I am having exactly the same problem with unit 3 of Microsoft Learning Azure Module, 'Optimize the performance of Azure Cosmos DB by using partitioning and indexing strategies'. The title of the unit is 'Exercise - Create and populate your Azure Cosmos DB collections'. The failure occurs on attempting to open a Cloud Shell. I've tried rerunning another earlier unit that I have successfully done in the past, and it worked again ok, so I suspect the problem lies with the unit's setup. Also when I access the Azure portal during unit 3 (described above), there is no listing of a directory for a Microsoft Learn sandbox.
I've spent months working through most of the modules, and this is one of the last. I'd be loathed to stop now, especially since I'm working towards the AZ-204.
Having the same issue. Moved computers and switched browsers. Nothing is working so far, will continue to troubleshoot... this is what the certifications _should_ test you for....
Well, creating an entire new live account worked.... hopefully my other one still works. Microsoft is getting on Apples level of dis-functionality... Billion-dollar thinking right here folks. Lets totally let them run the IDaaS platform for my entire company... sure.
The unit, 'Exercise - Create and populate your Azure Cosmos DB collections' started working for me after a few days without me having to do anything. I suspect the error message (shown below) is a red herring.
_You're signed into the cloud shell with an account that's different from your docs account. Please sign out of the cloud shell to retry accessing the sandbox._
Exact same problem here. I've tried everything it says in the FAQ (3rd party cookies, incognito window) on Edge Chromium, Chrome, Firefox and even Safari, no change. It's been going on for weeks and now happens in any module that needs the cloud shell.
Meanwhile there is no way to talk to someone from Microsoft about this. There's a "report" option that immediately tells you "We don't correspond about stuff like this." which boils down to "don't hope that this will ever be solved" (especially since this has clearly been going on for over a year already without any Microsoft response)
I have the same problem. My workaround is to wait until the sandbox has been activated, then login to the Azure Portal using the same credentials as on docs, choose the "Microsoft Learn" directory there, and open up a cloud shell in there.
It will ask to create a storage account for the shell, which isn't allowed in the Concierge Subscription. However, when the sandbox is created, it automatically also adds a storage account, which you should be able to select for the shell by clicking on "Advanced settings". Look up the resources in the Concierge Subscription to find out the location, name, and file share name of that storage account.
Sometimes, the dialog will not allow "use existing" for some reason. If you just paste in the correct names, it will work nonetheless.
Hope this helps a bit.
Thanks for the response Fabian. I'm afraid it hasn't helped :-(
So I opened one of the modules that requires the shell. I started a sandbox, then opened the Azure portal. When I try to select the sandbox directory, it's not there. There simply isn't an option to switch to the sandbox directory because it doesn't show it.
So I found a URL that will take me directly to the sandbox. Eureka! It works! I am not in the sandbox directory. The first error I get is that there is no subscription attached. When I open the shell it shows me the same error: Can't open the shell because there is no subscription attached. Nor is there any way to do any settings.
In my case the email address was verified, yet I still had the same issue.
Here is what I do to make Azure Sandbox work:
Log out from https://docs.microsoft.com
Log out from https://account.microsoft.com
Log in using email address on https://docs.microsoft.com

This doesn't work for me - still getting the "You're signed into the cloud shell with an account that's different from your docs account. Please sign out of the cloud shell to retry accessing the sandbox."
I did the create Azure Storage account lesson (and sandbox, successfully) just before this - I wonder if it's the sandbox from that lesson which is getting in the way...

This helped a lot, thank you!
I simple logged in and accessed CLI directly - the Concierge Subscription was already created and I was able to create the required storage account.
I was able to solved this problem by deleting my profile in Docs. Sign in to Microsoft Docs, display your Profil info, there is a settings button the left, click, bottom of the page, locate the button "delete my profile".
However, all your "points" will be erased.

I hope we don't consider "Just buy a new computer" to be a solution to any computer problem :-D
I certainly don't consider "Just throw away all your work and start anew" as a solution to a problem of a service provider.
I had this problem today. I just left the current sandbox to expire (1hr) on its own and retried later on a new sandbox and it worked! Hope you guys didnt have to delete your profiles
