@grahamhayes thanks for the issue.
We have some plans on our roadmap which we would like to resolve first before adding more DNS providers: https://github.com/kubernetes-incubator/external-dns/issues/228
Once it is resolved we can add OpenStack as one of the dns providers. if you want you can create a PR later once the above-mentioned issue is resolved ? Will keep this issue updated

I'm working on Designate provider even though I understand it won't be merged now. But the PR can be updated later, when #228 is ready and it will be easier, than implementing from scratch. Going to create the PR later this week
