Element-web: Start on home page for desktop/web client
Riot gained a home page. On the mobile version, the app starts on that homepage. On the web version though, the app opens in one of the rooms, changing the read status for that room. The landing page when starting the app should be the home page.

Not a bad idea, but I the "return to the last room you were in" behaviour was an explicitly chosen behaviour which I _think_ is appealing to many users - if we did change this behaviour I think we'd want to make it configurable.

I'd prefer to see the homepage unless I intentionally directed my browser to the room. I feel Desktop users might have a different preference than web. An option would be fine, of course :)

I want one of the Riots I run to default to a specific room for new guests, but I agree with the current default. Once they've registered, the behavior described by @lampholder sounds great.
