Electron-builder: Improve linux icon generation

Created on 16 Jan 2019  路  13Comments  路  Source: electron-userland/electron-builder

Problem

According to the docs icons for Linux can be generated, but it's not clear how.

For instance I was setting the icon like this for linux:

"icon": "resources/icon/icon.png",

Now it seems that electron-builder will look for the "icon.png" file itself, so I should have rather used:

"icon": "resources/icon",

This is somewhat weird and I can see it leading to bugs for other people also.

Solution

If a .icns or .png file is set explicitly, than that one should be used for generating the icon.

When is closing a legitimate issue a good idea just because nobody had the time to take care of it yet?!

Is this still relevant? If so, what is blocking it? Is there anything you can do to help move it forward?

This is getting annoying.

I'm closing this as I've exhausted the patience for dealing with this bot.
