I replied in elastic/elasticsearch-py-async#78, we're working towards merging proper async aupport into the elasticsearch package in #1203.

Hey @sethmlarson, I don't believe that link points to the proper spot? Appears to be about adding a segment _cat api.

Edit: May be handy to include the link to #1203 here also
