Describe what is not working as expected.
I was trying to execute the command suggested in "Getting started... (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/ef/core/get-started/aspnetcore/existing-db#install-entity-framework-core)

Scaffold-DbContext "Server=(localdb)\;Database=Test2;Trusted_Connection=True;"
If you are seeing an exception, include the full exceptions details (message and stack trace).

Steps to reproduce

Include a complete code listing (or project/solution) that we can run to reproduce the issue.

Partial code listings, or multiple fragments of code, will slow down our response or cause us to push the issue back to you to provide code to reproduce the issue.

c# Console.WriteLine("Hello World!");

Scaffolding uses same connection string as tools, what makes you think it does not?

Scaffold-DbContext "Server=(localdb)\desktop-ne78ema;Database=Test2;Trusted_Connection=True;" Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore.SqlServer -OutputDir Models

Is \\ in your server name intentional?

? I do not see \ in this quote

I think the server name is wrong: (localdb)\desktop-ne78ema

Connect to the server using other tools to verify.

Other tools (Management studio?) will not accept (localdb) in front - but this is my understanding recommended format for scaffolding.

@oleop Closing this as I think the question has been answered--use the same connections string as anywhere else. If you are still running into issues, then please comment with a runnable project/solution or complete code listing that demonstrates the behavior you are seeing and we will re-open and investigate.
