Efcore: 2.0.0 System namespace conflicts in .NET 4.6.1 project

I have the latest nightly build (via 'Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore.Sqlite.2.0.0-preview3-25612)
I have .net core sdk v2.0.0-preview2-006391 from https://github.com/dotnet/cli/tree/release/2.0.0
I'm on Windows 10 Ent N. Totally clean machine (VM) with no other versions of .NET Core or VS on it.
Using VS2017 15.3.0 Preview2

Notable: it takes a REALLLLLLLY long time to install this package. Running this on an Azure VM.

In a .NET 4.6.1 DbContext requires me to explicitly add netstandard 2.0 and I can only do that via browsing to the dll on my machine.

CS0012  The type 'Object' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'netstandard, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=cc7b13ffcd2ddd51'.

Note that I also have .NET Standard 2.0 & .NET Core 2.0 class library projects with this same simple DbContext class and they have no problems when I compile the class that inherits from DbContext.

When that's done, the class inheriting from DbContext tells me:
"Predefined type System.Void is not defined or imported "

Build then shows me a lot of errors that that tell me that both mscorlib and netstandard have system.void and I need to resolve it. E.G.

CS0433  The type 'Void' exists in both 'mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, 
PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' 
and 'netstandard, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=cc7b13ffcd2ddd51'

_Compiler errors -- not running so no exceptions._

I noticed that the csproj file had two different versions of netstandard referenced (see below, tail end of csproj listing. That listing shows them both included.) I tried commenting out the lines for one version and then commenting out the lines for the other version but neither of those work. Its possible that the 24501 is a result of me trying to figure out how to ref netstandard before I just decideed to browse to the same dll that the other projects were using.

Steps to reproduce

Create new class library targetting .NET 4.6.1
Add nuget package from nightly feed for Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore.Sqlite.2.0.0-preview3-25612
Modify default class1 to inherit from DbCOntext
Add using Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore to usings

That's it. This DbContext class is all that's in my project.

Update: I just created another .NET 4.6.1 class library and installed EFCore sqlite preview1 final into it. I noticed that this explicitly pulled in .net standard 2.0.0 when the newer nightly build did not! Maybe THAT's the real problem and all the other stuff I did was just a waste of time. (bleeding edge...expected...not complaining...just kicking myself)

@julielerman Closing this based on conversation with @bricelam on Twitter which basically says, "This not work right now." We're working hard to get a new pre-release out that has both a working top-to-bottom .NET standard stack, and works with a publicly available Visual Studio...but we're not there yet.

No, I would prefer the nightly builds be more easily usable. We're getting closer to that, but it has been difficult with 2.0 transition. Hopefully this will mainly be a window-in-time issue. In general we love people to party on the nightlies.

Does installing this package not solve the problem? https://www.nuget.org/packages/NETStandard.Library.NETFramework/2.0.0-preview1-25305-02

I had to put it into my .NET 4.6.X projects in order for .NET Standard 2.0 to work. I'm told it's just temporary for now, and the next release will slipstream it into MSBuild: https://github.com/dotnet/sdk/issues/1267
