Drupal-console: Unable to install Drupal console globally using composer;: no matching package for gabordemooij/redbean found

Created on 20 Mar 2016  路  22Comments  路  Source: hechoendrupal/drupal-console

Hi before i've installed the Drupal Console by downloading the phar. But i wanted to switch over using Composer. I've removed the phar and the .console folder from the user folder. Then i've entered:

composer global require drupal/console:@stable

like listed on https://hechoendrupal.gitbooks.io/drupal-console/content/en/getting/composer.html and i get:

Changed current directory to /Users/myuser/.composer

Potential causes:
 - A typo in the package name
 - The package is not available in a stable-enough version according to your minimum-stability setting
   see <https://getcomposer.org/doc/04-schema.md#minimum-stability> for more details.

Read <https://getcomposer.org/doc/articles/troubleshooting.md> for further common problems.

is that a known issue? I've searched the issues but haven't anything regarding that yet. Best regards r.

@rpkoller: Fixed on latest release v0.10.14 https://github.com/hechoendrupal/DrupalConsole/releases/tag/0.10.14

Try executing again.

composer global require drupal/console:@stable

thanks @jmolivas for the quick fix! hmmmm but when i've retried with composer i still get the same error. somehow composer is sticking to version 0.10.13?

drupal/console 0.10.13 requires gabordemooij/redbean dev-master -> no matching package found.

Maybe i am downloading a composer repository with outdated maybe still cached(?) package information when running

composer global require drupal/console:@stable

Strange cuz when i take a look on packagist.org version 0.10.14 is shown:

https://packagist.org/packages/drupal/console

Thanks Ralf

Update: Also clearing the composer cache hasn't helped:

composer clearcache

@rpkoller You can try to force to require the 0.10.14 version by executing?

composer global require drupal/console:0.10.14

Not sure why is still trying to install 0.10.13, how about removing the package first

composer global remove drupal/console

Clear cache:

composer clearcache

Then try the global require command

composer global require drupal/console:@stable

@jmolivas thanks for the suggestions. when i've tried the composer install with a fixed version number i get a new error:

Installation failed, reverting ./composer.json to its original content.

so nothing installs there either. and when i try your other suggestion with the removal

$> composer global remove drupal/console
Changed current directory to /Users/myusername/.composer
drupal/console is not required in your composer.json and has not been removed
Package "drupal/console" listed for update is not installed. Ignoring.

basically nothing got installed so also the removal doesnt help. and the clearcache i already tried before like stated in my update in my previous post. confusing :/

It works on my local global require drupal/console:0.10.14

@rpkoller can you try updating composer:

composer self-update

@jmolivas ups sorry forgot to mention above but i am already running the latest composer build:

$> composer self-update
You are already using composer version a8e9df55dc62d8806360be2f79ad112b8678d397.

@jmolivas hmmm is it possible that the used "version name schema" in the composer.json is the issue? cuz it was set to dev-master? maybe use an absolute version number. version newer than version x. cuz dev-master isn't minding semantic versioning like noted here: https://www.versioneye.com/php/gabordemooij:redbean/dev-master

@rpkoller Can you try to remove drupal/console declaration from composer. json file at ~/.composer/composer.json and the run composer global update.

And the execute again:

composer global require drupal/console:@stable

Which other packages do you have installed globally via composer, do you mind to share the content of ~/.composer/composer.json?**

@jmolivas there wasn't added any drupal/console declaration at all into the composer.jsonfile. the file got reverted to its initial state after each failed install attempt with the following statement:

Installation failed, reverting ./composer.json to its original content.

i've tried composer global update and the output was the following:

$> composer global update
Changed current directory to /Users/myusername/.composer
Loading composer repositories with package information
Updating dependencies (including require-dev)
Nothing to install or update
Generating autoload files

after retrying the install afterwards it failed again with the same error pasted already above. And sure i can share my composer.json file:

{
    "require": {
        "squizlabs/php_codesniffer": "*",
        "phpmd/phpmd": "*",
        "drupal/coder": "*",
        "wp-coding-standards/wpcs": "*",
        "drush/drush": "@stable"
    }
}

just a few require statements.

The issues seem to be a dependency conflict between projects, also known as dependency hell, your option could be to manage instead drupal/drupal, drupal/console and other dependencies by site using composer + https://github.com/drupal-composer/drupal-project

@jmolivas hmmmmmm i wanted to avoid installing those packages on a per project basis and keep it global if possible. well i've taken a step back and removed all installed packages in the first step. then i redid the require global for each package. but i've installed drupal console first then drush and then the coding standard related packages. it worked that way!
seems drupal console is relying on older packages than the other packages. drush e.g. uses symfony/filesystem (v3.0.3) while the version drupal console installs when installed as first package is v2.8.3 and so on. rather odd but maybe that is the root of the problem leading to the install error with the gabordemooij/redbean package? dunno i am not that kind of a composer expert yet. :/

@rpkoller wich version of DrupalConsole you got installed?

@jmolivas when i've installed drupal console as the first package version 0.10.14 got installed.

@rpkoller Related to the current versions of packages in Drupal Console.

  • This is because Drupal 8.0.x is set to use

Firstly, I tried composer global require drupal/console:@stable and it attempted to install 0.10.13 version instead of 0.10.14 for some reason, as you may see from the log above.
Then I tried to install composer global require drupal/console:0.10.14.
Then run drupal list inside my Drupal 8 folder. Received:

[ERROR] Drupal Console is not installed at: /srv/sites/drupal8/

Then I removed the following packages from ~/.composer/composer.json (through composer global remove):
laravel/installer
laravel/lumen-installer
so that my ~/.composer/composer.json had only drupal/console.

Next I received the error again:

[ERROR] Drupal Console is not installed at: /srv/sites/drupal8/

After that I had to install drupal/console in my Drupal 8 folder locally:
composer require drupal/console:0.10.14

And only after that my DrupalConsole started to work but with the errors:

TypeError: Argument 1 passed to Drupal\ConsoleHelper\NestedArrayHelper::setValue() must be of the type array, null given, called in /srv/sites/drupal8/vendor/drupal/console/src/Command/Settings/SetCommand.php on line 87 in /srv/sites/drupal8/vendor/drupal/console/src/Helper/NestedArrayHelper.php on line 153

At the moment I've successfully installed Drupal console doing this:
Replace the vim ~/.composer/composer.json with just {}. (note copy to back-up)
Mine had Drush.
Then: composer global update
Then: global require drupal/console:@stable

However, I'm unable to reinstall my Drush with composer global require drush/drush:dev-master

I'm having the same issue as @kkomelin . I believe the problem is that there is a dependency version conflict. Drush uses the latest version of dependencies from Symfony. For me, Drush is using Symfony packages with version v3.3.2 , and Drupal console's dependencies are for v2.8* max.

Kinda surprised there is no solution for this problem yet.

Any solution ?? Have the same problem here ...

@kkomelin @ahmadhassankhalil @Paku- @Thomasvc1 As mentioned on the docs Starting on RC releases DrupalConsole must be installed per site. Install Drupal Console using composer global require is no longer supported.
https://docs.drupalconsole.com/en/getting/project.html

Instructions to install DrupalConsole per project

We still provide a global executable the aka as Launcher.

@ahmadhassankhalil Related to your comment:

Drupal console's dependencies are for v2.8* max.

This is inaccurate. DrupalConsole supports 8.4
