Our release notes do not link to any install or upgrade instructions.
Provide links to a set of simple instructions explaining how to install and upgrade DNN to the latest version.
You could include a simple set of upgrade instructions in the notes?
One of my colleagues pointed this gap out when I sent them a link to the latest release - they had to google to find out how to upgrade their install.
This is a great idea! Would this be a good page to link too? https://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/how-to-install-dotnetnuke
I suggest using a link, which can easily been redirected.
I've seen https://dnn.ly/ used from time to time - I wonder if ESW control that?
If so, something like _dnn.ly/install-instructions_ (pointing at https://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/how-to-install-dotnetnuke) and _dnn.ly/upgrade-instructions_ (pointing at https://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/upgrading-dotnetnuke) would be ideal.
I would assume that dnn.ly is just an alias for bit.ly, which doesn't allow changing URLs after creating them. What about just dnnsoftware.com/upgrade, which could be a page on the site that is setup as a redirect?
I would assume that dnn.ly is just an alias for bit.ly
You would be correct.
What about just dnnsoftware.com/upgrade
Could @CBPSC arrange such a thing for us?
I can definitely create a /upgrade page. Are you wanting it to redirect to the wiki/upgrading-dotnetnuke page?
@CBPSC I suggest creating a redirect folder for permanent links, e.g. /link/upgrade.
This will make it easier to manage, if you get multiple redirects like this :)
We added these into the RC and they鈥檒l be included going forward with each release.
