Detectron: Why is it named "Detectron" and not named "Detection" directly?

The _-tron_ suffix comes from: "...also, more generally, in the names of any kind of chamber or apparatus used in experiments." (source). Detectron can be thought of as meaning "a software system (i.e., apparatus) used for object detection experimentation."
