Looks like this is already done in another fork. https://github.com/nicolassenechal/cucumber-js/commit/b337b182621051b485f0d1e86239ad697947ae13
I'm hoping that its going to be merged.
this writes to a file and is not a "html" formatter per say
I am not sure if it is helpful. A grunt task version of html reporter for cucumber.js is implemented in here:
https://github.com/mavdi/grunt-cucumberjs
I couldn't use it directly because I am using protractor with cucumber framework.
Its planned for next releases? Because its most wanted feature.
Also i know about https://github.com/cucumber/cucumber-html and author claims that its works with cucumber-js but no any instructions about it.
Also i see that cucumber-js are depends on it but not use it as formatter.
Can someone make some clarification about it?

how the <*> is this not already a feature in this project...
Hi Guys, checkout the cucumber-html-reporter for HTML reporting. Converts JSON to HTML reports. Here is the snapshot of it's bootstrap theme,
@gkushang Nice, I like this cucumber reporting a lot. Especially the pie charts. :)
@gkushang Awesome dude, I can't wait to try it out! 馃憤
Closing in favor of cucumber-html-reporter and the future cucumber html formatter
