Cosmos-sdk: 0.38 release schedule

Created on 3 Jan 2020  路  8Comments  路  Source: cosmos/cosmos-sdk

It has been 5 months since last major release, and there are a lot improvements in the latest master branch. I am eager to upgrade to 0.38 and wonder if there is timeline for 0.38 release? Thank you

We'll have a v0.38 release once https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/pull/5538 is merged! @AdityaSripal is on top of it and we should have an RC out today/early tomorrow morning.

We agree @Xuefeng-Zhu. From the SDK vantage point, I believe we're ready to cut 0.38. We're mainly waiting on a release from Tendermint.

@marbar3778 when do you expect the next major release of Tendermint to be ready?

Note, we're also exploring a migration from amino to protobuf encoding and what this would look like timeline-wise, but it's still unclear if we're set on this path and in which release it'll be included.

Tendermint I am hoping this coming week, on top of this there are releases that still need to be made for tm-db and iavl tree.

@marbar3778 let's make the goal to release SDK v0.38, and by proxy Tendermint, this coming week.

It seems that tendermint has released a new version. Is v0.38 coming soon?

there is a pr with the updates https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/pull/5527, I am working to get a breaking release of IAVL out in the morning. the sdk0.38 release is blocked on this.

Closing this issue. RC will be out tomorrow :)

@alexanderbez Is 0.38 release still blocking?
