As we've seen on mainnet launch; top 7 validators have more than 67% voting power. This is definite centralized network.
Can we just set a maximum percentage on voting power share, the delegation overtake this value should NOT get rewards.
This will force delegators choose a validator with low percentage voting power.
what would be the threshold you're proposing for max voting power ? imo this is something that should go through the hub's governance mechanism
Rather than a threshold, I like the idea of a curve which reduces rewards as relative size of a validator grows. This would provide an incentive to delegate to smaller validators, without putting a hard cap on the size of larger validators.
Definitely something for governance.
My concern is that many of the top validators (by voting power) have a significant amount of self-delegation (e.g. DokiaCapital-IØN, Polychain Labs, Cosmostation). Implementing such a restriction may simply cause them to create additional validators (obviously this is still centralised voting power).
@mattharrop's solution makes the most sense as it would at least make it more challenging, voting power would tend towards being equally distributed across all validators.
if you are in the top 100 validator, rewards have to be the same for each one of validator, have 1 stake or 10million. delegate or autodelegate, if not is unfair, we are doing the same job but just for see how "that the rich get richer and the poor poorer", I thought we were here to change just that. in a fair and decentralized network, not how it's running now.
or are you saying than Validator more Atoms have for auto bond his validator is much better than others that have the skills for operate a trusted validator node but not have money for buy a buch of ATOMS for do the same or maybe just believe is not a fair practice do that.
that's is what the software says now.
what has that to do in terms of DECENTRALIZATION? please explain
the launch was decentralized? yes
the software shows now that is a decentralized system?
what can happens if we upload one propo now for vote?
Why launch meanwhile only can delegate with the command line and not wallet for users delegate?=(can't see what happens in real scenario yet for so.)
yes. we can have online voting on governance. IMO, the maximum value should not bigger than 2.5 average.
