Ubuntu 18.04
fas_sync: true

when the new validator node start to sync the network was in 3780 +o- blocks
when finish the sync the network was in the block 4300 +o- Blocks

the validator need like 30 minutes to sync from 0 blocks to 4300 blocks.

more blocks received more slow is the process.

performance

Do you have some logs we can work with to help indicate what took so long ?

i think this can help even more than logs that i don't have anyway.

https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/issues/1736

A validator told me that changing the default ip in config.toml allowed them to drastically increase their sync speed.

Currently, in config.toml, the default is

# Address to listen for incoming connections
laddr = "tcp://0.0.0.0:26656"

Replacing 0.0.0.0 by their IP address did the trick.

closing in favour of #1736 and #1743

Replacing 0.0.0.0 by their IP address did the trick.

@gamarin2 This doesn't make any sense to me. Any more details? @xla @melekes any thoughts on that?

@ebuchman Just relaying what a validator told me. Apparently he was syncing super slow and changing that drastically increased sync speed. Seemed like it helped other folks in riot as well. I couldn't tell you why though.

Apparently it's related to https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/issues/1767. I'm talking with the guy for more details

How is the issue going? I set up a common node, but it seems way slower than pow(bitcoin). I didn't see advantages this said.
