Core: Google Assistant room association not working if several homes are configured

Created on 22 Mar 2020  路  12Comments  路  Source: home-assistant/core

The problem

Room association with Google Assistant integration does not work if more than 1 Home is configured in the Google Home app.

Workaround

Having only 1 Home set up in the Google Home app.

Environment

Problem-relevant configuration.yaml

This configuration works well with only 1 Home set up in the Google Home app. It won't work if more than 1 Home is configured.

Hey there @home-assistant/cloud, mind taking a look at this issue as its been labeled with a integration (google_assistant) you are listed as a codeowner for? Thanks!

My apologies, I've used a button that did not bring me to the template. I've edited the post I hope that helps.

No problem, we see this happening quite a bit. Could you point me to which button you've used (that caused the empty template)? As we would like to eliminate those...

(sorry a bit off-topic for your issue)

So I really have to apologize because I thought it was empty when I used the "New issue" button from the old bug but it seems I just removed the content thinking it was a markdown exemple.

I will stay home and not meet any friends for at least 2 weeks to punish myself ;)

So this seems to be an issue on Googles end. There is only way to give room hints and that's what we supply.

I'll sent an email to Google and ask whats up.

Google said it's by design.

Thanks Ballood, have they given you any documentation about this per any chance?

Nope.
