Core: Smartthing Switch Platform Capabilities - Power Monitoring

Created on 18 Jan 2020  路  4Comments  路  Source: home-assistant/core

Home Assistant release with the issue: 0.104.2

Last working Home Assistant release (if known): N/A

Operating environment (Hass.io/Docker/Windows/etc.): BSD 11.2-STABLE iocacge Jail

Integration: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/smartthings/#switch

Description of problem: I purchased two Smartthings Outlets (https://www.smartthings.com/products/smartthings-outlet) The outlets themselves are working fine and integrated automatically with HA. I can easily turn them ON/OFF within HA.

These outlets provide power monitoring capabilities. Within the SmartThings app (classic or new one), I can see the power usage information. I can't figure out how it is exposed within HA.

Problem-relevant configuration.yaml entries and (fill out even if it seems unimportant):

(nothing within configuration.yaml related to smarthings)

Traceback (if applicable):

(no error message)

I'm not sure if I need to manually do something to enable "energyMeter" and "powerMeter" capabilities.

Well that's embarrassing. Thank you for the prompt response. Much appreciated. Closing issue.

Hey there @andrewsayre, mind taking a look at this issue as its been labeled with a integration (smartthings) you are listed as a codeowner for? Thanks!

These attributes will show up as state attributes of the switch entity. If you click into the entity, they will be visible. Also, if you check the states page in HA, you should see them there.

Follow-up question... in the entity state attributes, I see the power "current_power_w" attribute, but I don't see the "today_energy_kwh" attribute. Should they both be shown?
