Core: Withings integration config flow fails to load on 0.99b

Created on 12 Sep 2019  Â·  13Comments  Â·  Source: home-assistant/core

Home Assistant release with the issue:

0.99b0

Last working Home Assistant release (if known):
N/A - new integration in 0.99

Operating environment (Hass.io/Docker/Windows/etc.):

Hass.io

Component/platform:

Withings

Description of problem:
Installed 0.99b0 earlier and was excited to set up Withings but it doesn't work for me. The first time I clicked on it, it was showing the circular progress spinner thing for a bit. I walked away from the computer for a minute or two and when I came back the config flow dialog appeared to have been closed. Trying to add the integration again never even opens the config flow for me now.

Another user in the Discord channel #beta room also has same problem of not being able to set it up.

Below is the relevant part of home-assistant.log

Problem-relevant configuration.yaml entries and (fill out even if it seems unimportant):

It seems the withings API is enforcing the inclusion of client_id when getting a token. This was already fixed in the nokia api but a new version has not been released that includes the fix. I submitted a ticket requesting a release. https://github.com/orcasgit/python-nokia/issues/38

I am getting the same problem with a slight different log.

I am using the reverse proxy built into Synology NAS drive.
I thought at first the error was due to it trying to direct back to http://internal-ip:8123 but I have added

http:
  base_url: https://xx.duckdns.org

to my config, so it's redirecting back ok. But I am still getting 500 Internal Server Error
Server got itself in trouble.

Also got the problem - but a bit different.
I can start the Withings integration. Choose my user and be redirected to the authorization API website. Authorize and is the getting the normal “ not found”. Changing the URL to my HA ip and accept. After that I can see a very short glimpse of a message coming up on the integration screen and then nothing happens. Still getting the message “redirect to a website”
I used to use Withings as a custom-component and everything worked.
There is no error log.
It seems to me that 0.99b0 won’t accept the authorization data to be saved

It works on my side but every time I restart home assistant I get notified to configure the integration again.

Hey there @vangorra, mind taking a look at this issue as its been labeled with a integration (withings) you are listed as a codeowner for? Thanks!

@luca-angemi Are you on 0.99b0 and using the merged component?
Can you describe what you are doing

Yes,

Configured this in my configuration.yaml:

withings:
  client_id: !secret withings_id
  client_secret: !secret withings_secret
  profiles:
    - Luca

then restarted home assistant and went to the integration tab and followed the steps.

First time I restarted everything went fine and after I restarted again for other reasons, I could still see the Withings integration available to be configured.

I have just enabled more logging, I think I have copied the correct section.
Like @Bluhme1 mentions you can very briefly see the integrations page before it goes back to the withings "Allow this App" button on the page Personal app for collecting my data.

Thanks @vangorra.

What about the behavior I described? Should the user be notified every time there is a HA restart?

Home assistant will prompt to fix integrations that are failing to authenticate. Once the dependency is fixed, the issue you describe should also go away.

I am now on release 0.99 but I still can't get Withings to authorize.
Has anyone got this integration to work? Or are we waiting on Nokia 1.2.1?

Instead of Authorising I end up with
