Since upgrading to 0.83.x my xiaomi buttons and sensors respond very slow.
After pressing a button or passing a motion sensor it takes up to 5 seconds to have the action fired.
Triggering the automation manually fires it normally.
Getting quite annoying to pee in the dark.
Could it have anythin to do with

What kind of xiaomi buttons or sensors? What xiaomi component are you using, as there are multiple?
Yes, I have the same issue.
I have the aquara square base/round push button and it does no longer work to turn on/off my lights with any longer at all, still works fine in mi home app but not in HA since the upgrade to 0.83.1

Different issue, read the breaking changes. the event is no longer called click, but xiaomi_aqara.click
The issue seems to have solved itself in 0.83.3.
Apologies for not sticking to the template
Yes, my bad for not seeing the comment.
Sorry if I am hijacking the thread.
I am experiencing something different since updating to 0.83.3.
After updating from 0.82.1 to 0.83.3 of Hass.io, the state of Xiaomi wireless button no longer changes on the dev-state page for single or double click on the button. The state and last_action fields on the dev-state page only change when I click and hold the xiaomi button. I am using the round buttons (WXKG01LM)
There is a community thread that reports this.

I opened a new issue:

Can this one be closed? All issues are solved here, right?
Yes, no issues for me
