Description of problem:
The Plex Sensor does not support https only Plex servers,
https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/blob/dev/homeassistant/components/sensor/plex.py#L51 http is hard coded.

Expected:
I expect it to work against https

  1. Set PMS Secure connections to required

I cant test as dont have SSL on local server
You'll need to add
ssl: true to your config (default is false)
verify_ssl as well if required (default is true)

if it works i'll create a PR

Sadly, the machine that runs my plex had a hardware failure, i'm working on bringing it backup.

Every recent plex server does ssl on local server, though. you just have to set it to required.

You can get your hash from https://plex.tv/pms/resources.xml?includeHttps=1, and then it is the ip with the dots replaced with -es, the hash, and plex.direct.

so you get 192-168-1-20..plex.direct

Or wait a while for me to fix my server :(

@ryanm101 Still doesn't work with clean install. Just installed Home-Assistant for my very first time and got this error:

You'll need to add

This probably fix my issue but it shouldn't throw a error after the first install.

we dont support verify_ssl on this component so all certs need to be trusted.

The error would be expected if you added the server and it was expecting https but you've not set the ssl: true.

I'll see about better error handling but we have to have a default and http is that default.
