New region support in either/both GovCloud regions (gov-us-east-1, gov-us-west-1)
Which service(s) is this request for?
EKS
This would be tremendously helpful and encourage greater Kubernetes adoption.
Updating this to track EKS in GovCloud West (gov-us-west-1). Tracking for GovCloud East: https://github.com/aws/containers-roadmap/issues/375
Any ETA for when this will be available?
From my perspective, K8S enables exploiting AWS without regrets.
Without K8S, using AWS becomes a complicated proposition, particularly for open-source software that needs to be easily deployable within the enterprise or publicly to encourage adoption/interest.
EKS in GovCloud would be very nice to have. The best option for K8s in GovCloud I've seen so far is kube-aws.
Also looking for an update here on behalf of multiple government customers. Thanks.
Any updates on this? Anything you can share?
Any updates on this?
Hi - no updates on this right now. We will be sure to add updates here when we have news to share!
Looking forward to this!!
any update on the availability date for EKS in Govcloud?
If I were to venture to guess I'd say it's currently waiting third-party audit assessment: https://aws.amazon.com/compliance/services-in-scope/
+1
@tabern can you at least tell us if it is being audited?
Until this exists, for those who find their way from Google, I will highly recommend using https://github.com/kubernetes/kops in GovCloud w/ gossip protocol (no Route53 creds needed).

Hi @weisjohn Do you have a rough estimate of the overhead to set this up vs. how quick/easy this is in EKS? We're thinking about whether this is worth the time investment or going another way
@ktal90 not sure what you're asking.
Take a look here: https://kops.sigs.k8s.io/getting_started/aws/#configure-dns
Configure DNS
Note: If you are using Kops 1.6.2 or later, then DNS configuration is optional. Instead, a gossip-based cluster can be easily created. The only requirement to trigger this is to have the cluster name end with .k8s.local. If a gossip-based cluster is created then you can skip this section.
