Conky: Conky is slow in detecting network, after resumption from sleep

It seems the network is up quite a few seconds before Conky detects it, and I did not have this problem with the version of Conky in Mint's repositories, but it may be that some other update - to polkit, perhaps - is the source of the problem.

The problem persists with conky conky 1.11.0. Let me give more details of my configuration.
